So this ambition to get a telescope and view the heavens has been with me since I was a child visiting relatives in Italy. We would lie on the flat roof of a house and just watch the shooting stars. Not knowing much about astronomy and arguably knowing only slightly more, the opportunity to purchase an old telescope arose. However I realised that as a disabled person I need to house it outside or it would never be used. My first plan was to build a slide off roof shed but a dome was available for an amazing price and so I got some help to put  together the base. Unfortunately the base section of the dome needed to be cut to fit in the van that collected it so a lot of unforeseen work was required.

So once the main assembly had been made and the joins strengthened with fibreglass , timber and steel bands around the top edges the dome was finally put on and a much needed coating of black paint. Now just to finish floor levelling, floor sealing, wiring , lighting, the cupboard, soft flooring  to absorb foot traffic ad then all finished ……errr apart from the small matter of mounting the telescope and everything else …. so several months more work then
